To support the Tripod Beta method of incident investigation and analysis, the Tripod Beta software tool was developed.

The software enables the incident investigation and analysis team to systematically store, structure and analyse the identified facts. It creates a diagram, the Tripod Beta Tree, which models the incident and assists in the analysis and communication of the incident details and findings. Based on the analysis the active and latent failures causing the incident are clearly identified. This enables an organization to manage and correct its latent failures and thereby decrease the probability of future incidents.

When performing Tripod Beta analyses yourself, you might encounter unforeseen elements, and guidance would facilitate you managing them.

Also, using the software, you might want to have clarified certain software tools, menu’s or options.
